    Default [FIXED] No power

    Model Number: SHU5316UC/12
    Brand: Bosch
    Age: 6-10 years

My DW tripped the CB in the night mid-cycle, so I re-set the CB and the DW worked for a little while more, but then quit again. This time though, the CB is not tripped.

I've read other posts where it could be the thermal fuse or possibly the door assembly switch. I'm not real good with electrical, however I have repaired my circuit board once and replaced it once.

    Hi,

Check where the main power enters the d/w....bad for loose/burnt wires there....failing that then yes the door switches or power off/on switch would be prime suspects.

    Thumbs up Fixed!

Yep, the power coming into the dw was fried. Took it all apart, cut off the charred wires, re-wired it all up, and wa-la. It works. Am I cool or what?

Thanks to this repair blog, I've fixed this dw 3 times now!

    Thanks Jeff!

    Hi,

    Shut off the power.
Remove the burnt connectors, cut back the wire so you
get nice cleaning wiring and install new marr connectors.
The kind you put on over the wires and tighten down the
screw and then screw on the plastic cover. They are much
better than the twist on marrette connectors. Black to
black, white to white and green/ground.

Make sure you place the new wire nuts with the closed/cone top facing upwards, too many shove them in upside down, creating a bowl for water to collect in and short out the connections (which will happen again if not done- which is also a fire/shock hazard).

Usually caused by excess water or soap bubbles that get the wire nuts wet, and for some reason a lot of the unit's I find dont have any cover over connection box...

    Hi

I too had the wiring burn and feel fine replacing it. Question is: the wiring that comes from the dishwasher (especially the black wire) got pretty fried and there is not enough current wire to connect to the incoming power line.

Is there a kit/part I can buy to replace the positive/negative/neutral in the dishwasher, or are they just "generic" wires I can buy from a hardware store. If I can replace, any idea what gauge they are?

Thanks, have always received good info and help from this blog

    None that I have seen.

I'd try to go with a stove style wire, 14 gauge.

Thanks, Do you know if its easy enough to get access to the wires as releasing the screws holding the plate in place?

Just release any hold downs and brackets there, shouldn't be -much- trouble
