Seeds bypass filter, clog pump intake

Three times now seeds such as un-popped popcorn kernels and citrus seeds have made it through the filter basket and clogged the pump intake slots. This leads to on-the-floor flooding as I guess one cycle’s water remains while the next cycle’s is added.

The fix is easy enough; wipe up the floor and remove the cover over the pump impeller and clean out the seeds.

Bosch customer service suggests the filter was not locked down tight, but I am careful about that.

Inspection of the filter basket reveals that although there are two baffles in the filter, there is no bottom. Object up to 5 mm (3/16”) can enter the filter basket and rattle right down into the pump intake.

Am I missing a part to the filter basket, or is Bosch missing something in their design?
