Default shu5312uc will not complete cycle -- water continuosly circulates

Hi,

I have a shu5312uc and it will not complete its cycle. The water continues to circulate even after the display has gone to CL.

I ran the test program on http://www.applianceaid.com/boschDW.html#run and the unit displayed 0 = No faults detected

The applianceaid.com page said "If flow switch (e5) has failed (opened), display will show "0", water won't heat (to 150ºF) and water won’t stop circulating."

Are there some additional tests I could run to confirm that its the flow switch?

Thanks very much for your help....

Richard

Default dishwasher

The only way to check the flow switch is to take the dishwasher apart and check it with a meter. The first thing that i would do is remove the main controller behind the key pad and check for burn marks on the heater relay, soldier joints. The dishwasher will continue to run in a thermal hold until the water is heated to 150f. So your dishwasher isn't heating the water. Check the control first because it is the easiest. If that checks good call a servicer because checking the heater and flow switch isn't an easy task.

hawkeyenation:

Thanks for the post. The board has a burnt solder joint. I tried re-soldered it, and it has the same problem. I ordered a new control board, hopefully that takes care of it, but I guess it's possible that there's a bad part on the unit that is causing the control board to fry. What is your experience with this -- is it usually the control board itself or something on the unit causing the control board to fry?

I hate to fry a new board... Thanks.

usually just the control board. Put the new control in and you should be good to go!

Thanks again. Is it unusual that re-soldering it doesn't fix it?

Hey -- Installed the new control board and everything is as good as new! Much thanks for your assistance!!! That was the best $125 USD (with shipping) that I've spent in a while...
