We had a DCS dishdrawer installed in our 1996 Airstream Excella Travel trailer about a year and a half ago, excellent, no problems, after a year we sold the trailer.
We just had a brand new in box DS603 DishDrawer installed in our new Airstream. I ran the rinse cycle after the installation, as per instructions. I noticed what seemed like an excessive amount of water after opening it, around the edges of the drawer, outside of where the lid seals, but thought it dripped down after the rinse cycle as there was no drying time. while doing our first load of dishes, F1 code started beeping and when I opened the drawer, what appears to be the drain motor was still running. I'm thinking the lid never locked down correctly. A tech is coming out on friday. I'd like to make sure this is repaired correctly as we are doing extesive traveling this summer and don't want to be chasing Fisher and Paykel service around the county.. ![]() are there any inherent problems with this particular model? upgraded parts that need to be installed? The F1 code as you discovered is a flood code intiated when water is sensed on the bottom of the cavity. The most common reasons for the F1 are washing something to tall inside the drawer preventing the lid from closing, a tear in the lid seal allowing water to escape, or one of the lid actuators not functioning and thus not closing the lid during wash. It's also possible for there to be a leak from the drain line or water inlet, so it's just a matter of getting some eyes in the unit and look for where the water is leaking from. A good tech should have little difficulty with repairing this issue and have you traveling in no time.

the service tech came out to look at it yesterday. the lid motor on the left side was not working, he's replacing both under warranty. So it came out of the box broken.
mind you this is a brand new DS603SS model, I picked it up from the dealer on April 4th, it was on sale at 525.00, part of an overstock buy out at the appliance dealer. correct me if I am wrong, but the current model is 605, so this was sitting in the box a couple of years right? Still, we looked at a floor model 602SS that was 649.00 and had rubber buttons, so I'm thinking this 603 is not a bad machine. (was there a 604 model? I'm not showing one) I am assuming it's really identical to the previous DCS we had? Dan |

You are correct. The 605 is current and no there was no 604. The 603 has worked well and as long as you use it the way it was designed to be used, they are nice machines. Very easy to work on and service too. Glad you got it fixed.

actually, the very capable appliance repair person in Bozeman MT found the problem, part of the frame that the top slides up and down on was bent, not allowing the top to close, he fixed it with a pliers and all has been well since.
Next question: Next winter we might leave the airstream in CT during the winter. I'm guessing to winterize it: I'd put RV antifreeze in the system, then run a rinse cycle? Then that would leave antifreeze in the DD right? Dan |

Hey Dan,
I don't think I would put antifreeze in the 603 just because they do not have a typical sump like most dishwashers. The only water that is likely to remain when you are finished with it is a little in the drain line that didn't make it out. When it was time to put it away, I would turn off the water, then start a rinse cycle to remove any remaining water from the fill system. Then remove the drain line from the waste connection and let gravity pull the remaining water into a small bucket (there shouldn't be much) and leave the drawer open to the air for a day or two. That should leave you about bone dry and ready for winter. |
