My wife bought an old portable at a yard sale. It seems to work excpet for a couple of things. When it runs through a cycle the water continues to run from the faucet through the hose connecter and into the sink. Some water (enough to wash I'd think) is getting into the washer, but it seems to me that when it is running no water should come out of the bottom of the connecter. Am I right?

Also (and less important) the dial that shows you the settings just spins in place. I can turn the knob and get it to run, at this point I have to guess at the cycle. Is there a source for old parts like this?

Incidentally the model # is UF097233C.

Cheers,

Scott

No water should come out the bottom of the unicouple attachment until the 'pressure relief valve' button on it is pushed. You can read about a portable dishwasher's unicouple and find one repair kit for it that includes a pressure relief 'bleed' valve at the following link.

Sounds like a problem in the timer itself unless the 'dial' is separate from the knob or the knob itself is just falling off the timer shaft.

The company linked below should be able to get any parts for that model which are still available. If you need anything specific for it, you may need to contact them directly with the dishwasher's model number to have them manually look up which parts are used on it.

BTW. That model looks to have been made for Wards by Frigidaire.

JFYI

Thanks Dan! The pressure relief valve button appears to be stuck at least partly open. Any way of fixing that?

Also the dial is seperate from the timer knob. So really that's more of a flying blind thing until I figure out the settings. If I can get the button for the pressure release fixed.

It depends on what type of unicouple assembly is used on it. I don't have any parts lists for your model to find that out.

If it's the design that has the all-plastic locking collar as described at the link above, the repair kit at this link includes the parts to fix its relief valve too.

If not, you may need to replace the whole unicouple and hose assembly as I do not believe the repair kit for the older design unicoupler is available any longer.
