My dryer vent connects out through the back wall of my basement, and then up out of the ground in my back yard. I'm trying to remove the link from it. (First time in 20 years.
)I've been able to clean the horizontal segment with a long stick, but I can't get to the vertical segment because I haven't been able to remove the end of the vent outside. There are no screws or anything, and pulling up on the cap isn't doing anything. The end has some pretty small holes, too, four holes about 3/4" in diameter, and I wonder if this is sufficient for venting. It seems like most dryer vents don't try to force the exhaust out through small holes as mine does. Would a vent cleaner like LintEater (mentioned on these forums previously) likely be effective if I only have access to the vent pipe from the inside end? Or would it just push the lint farther up the vent? It doesn't look like it will fit into the tiny holes at the outside end of the vent. Or is there a better option? |

Hi,
I've never seen an exhaust vent like this before, it would seem that cap would come off, did you try to tap it up with a rubber mallet or hammer? Those 4 small holes don't seem big enough for proper venting. How long does it take a normal load to dry? The lint eater should pull the lint back towards you from the inside.
