We have a Maytag MSD2756GES side-by-side frig (about 6 years old). The ice maker decided to stop making ice. With the ice tray removed, I can reach my fingers in there and they come out with a couple drops of water on them. We have occasionally notices some loud clicking sounds over the past few months from the ice maker. The water supply line is OK. Any ideas?

Bought this unit is 2007. Shortly after one year, the unit began to buzz somewhat quietly at random times. The buzzing has gotten much, much louder and seems to be happening more often. The buzzing is so loud I can hear it from the bedroom.

If I push on the side of the unit the buzzing will quiet, stop, or change a bit. Opening a door sometimes stops the sound or opening the door and lightly pulling down on it will stop the sound but it will come right back.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

When you press the water dispense button, you get a couple ounces, then it'll slow to a trickle and you'll hear a loud buzzing/thumping sound from the back of the fridge.

We've checked and changed the water filter and the water reservoir isn't frozen. Making plenty of ice cubes too.

Given the buzzing/thumping sound from the back of the fridge, I'm thinking it could potentially be the water inlet valve. Is there anything else we should look for?

Thanks!

I have a side-by-side Maytag. It has a few issues:
1)The other night I heard a strange noise kind of like a fan rubbing against something coming from the fridge area. I pulled the light shield down and determined it's coming from a square attached to the ceiling of the unit sort of towards the right rear. I ended up unplugging it and plugging it back in. Noise stopped. Returned in about 12 hours. Unplugged it again and was ok for a few days but it just happened again.
(Is their some trick to taking the light shield off completely. While looking for the noise i was able to pull down the front and it flexed enough to look in but I didn't want to force it and break something. I'm sure it would cost a fortune to replace.)

2)water dispenser has stopped dispensing water and no ice. Ice cubes went hollow before it stopped and that's about the time the water went out. Hoses in back are fine. No kinks or leaks. I've looking on the forum and i'm guessing it's most likely my water filter as it hasn't been changed in a while. (over a year) But once that is changed how do i defrost the hose leading to the ice tray. it feels frozen solid. Hair dryer? Or will that melt something? Leave the unit off to defrost completely? Not my favorite option as what do i do with my frozen food?

3)This unit was one of the units specified in the recall for a relay that turns on the compressor. One thing led to another and i never scheduled the repair. I'm going to be calling them on this but if i have missed the recall window. Is this fairly easy to repair?

Thanks!

Hi,

Hi,

I have a Magic Chef CSB2121ARW side-by-side refrigerator. Everything has been working fine for a long time but a week ago there was a power outage in the area. A few days later, I suddenly started hearing a frequent clicking noise from the unit. Then I noticed the refrigerator was no longer cold and started to actually warm up. The freezer side had air blowing in (probably @ room temperature) and it was no longer cold either.

I unplugged the unit for about 24 hours.

Then I turned to the back of the unit and cleaned up the dust piled up around the condenser coil. I took out the relay switch mounted on the compressor and found it rattling, so I replaced the relay switch.

--

After all these, I plugged in the unit again, and I noticed the compressor no longer gave out the frequent clicking noise. The freezer side worked again with strong cold air blowing into the freezer area. I placed some ice packs inside the freezer to see if the freezer was cold enough, and the ice packs were later on found frozen.

However, I noticed very little amount of cold air blowing into the refrigerator side. I noted no difference whether I left the refrigerator door open or not.

The refrigerator side was really quiet.

I tried turning the refrigerator temperature control to the coldest but didn't seem to change the amount of cold air coming in.

I did notice a quick 5-1 beep sequence from the refrigerator at one point. This was after I replaced the refrigerator relay switch. I was not able to locate any documents about this beep code. It seemed to happen soon after I replaced the relay switch. I don't seem to hear that anymore now.

Any clues or suggestions what to try out next?

Thanks.
