On 5/14/13 at 5:30pm our Kenmore free standing smooth topelectric range Model 790.02309010 serial number VF04543817 purchased inNovember 2011 at a Sears in Neptune New Jersey spontaneously shorted out in thetop control panel section causing a fire to require the fire company to respond. Contacting Sears resulted in no satisfactionor recovery of damages for as they stated – this specific 790 series was not inthe recall. How does the process work toexpand the recall of a known fire hazard for the 790 model to expand to its 790series subsets? Clearly there is apublic safety issue with the Kenmore electric rage 790 models. Photos of the range were taken with specificfocus detail on the failure area.
