Default # FRS26R4CW3 Freezer doesn’t stay cold

Frigidaire Refrigerator Model # FRS26R4CW3fficeffice" />>>
We have a Frigidaire S/S refrigerator purchased in 2004. Freezer side doesn’t stay cold. >>
I have been monitoring the tempof both sides of the fridge with a digital temp sensor and fresh food side hangs around 32-38 degrees. Freezer side will get down to about -10 but will slowly warm up and will equalize temp with the fresh food side.>>
Condenser coil was fairly clean but cleaned it again. Condenser fan works. Compressor comes on with no problem, does not start and stop, and no strange noises. It gets warm while running but cools off when it shuts down.>>
Removed back panel in freezer and evap coil is clear no ice just normal light frost. Evap fan works. Waited and watched for defrost cycle and heater came on melted all frost and warmed up freezer to about 34. Then waited again and compressor did not come on to start cooling cycle. Now I am an old school mechanic type so when things don’t work I hit them. So I tapped on the defrost thermostat on the evap coil nothing happened. Then when I tapped on the temp control panel (near the temp control knob for the freezer) the evap fan came on and then a few moments later compressor came on. Freezer cooled down to about -10 and compress shut off. >>
Over the next few days I watch temps and it appears that after defrost cycle (twice a day) fridge does not kick back over to cooling cycle. Also I found that when freezer temp was up and compressor was not running I could tap either the control panel or even the inner wall of fridge near the control panel and/or near the adaptive timer circuit board and the evap fan and the compressor would start up and cool the freezer back down to -10.>>
So I replaced the Defrost Adaptive Timer Control and also the Defrost Thermostat. I waited for a defrost cycle and a short time after a defrost was complete the fridge kicked back over to cooling cycle. Yeah !!! But now I have notice that inbetween defrost cycles freezer will still warm up into mid 20s and compressor will not come on to cool down freezer. When fresh food side get a little warm evap fan will come on to circulate air over to fresh food side to cool it back down. Again if I tap on or near the control panel compressor will come on and freezer cools down. >>
So here are my questions:>>
At what freezer temperature should the compressor be coming on at to cool down to the -10? >>
Is it possible the Freezer Temp Control is defective? It does turn the compressor off when it reaches cold limit but does not always start cooling cycle when warm/high temp is reached.>>
Or is the compressor not coming on more a sign of the Compressor Starter going bad? >>
>>
Sorry this is so long winded and any advice would be appreciated.>>

It sounds like the freezer temperature control. Inside the control is a set of points that open and close. When they get pitted they sometimes stick together. Hitting the control panel is enough to unstick them. Might have to replace it.

THANKS !! for the input. The Freezer Temp control was my first choice but then I started second guessing myself and went with the defrost parts.
I just got home from work and temp in the freezer was 36 and fresh food was 40. I opened the door tap the control panel and on cam the compressor its already down to 5 degrees. Again thanks for the help !!
