Question dryer drum bearing assembly for frigidaire dryer

Thanks so much for the valuable information your site has offered. Today I took apart the dryer--- A feat in itself. It was mostly nerves. I didn't cry,or cuss... but did get a beer afterwards. A couple of tips---The new bearing plate has 3 holes that are are not threaded.. why? How stupid is that? So I had to ask ex husband to thread those for me. He hasn't returned my call.. lol

Being a female with the standard, plastic tool kit with bits and screwdrivers.. i just don't have the "umphh" to get that accomplished. So make sure the holes are threaded with the old screws before trying to put the new screws in. Also.. the guy at the parts store told me to put a little bit of the supplied lubricant to the plastic piece.. can't remember what its called then put the little bitty ball bearing on it and it will stay w/out falling off/out. Great tips...

upon looking at the heating element/coils they are destroyed, fried to a crisp and the belt also needs replaced... the "pan" that the heating coils attached to has a felt peice stapled to the metal "pan".. does that whole pan need to be replaced?

What kind of rip off is it when a dang little bitty plastic knob for the power switch cost 12-14 dollars at the parts stores... grrrrr.

any advice on the "pan?" felt pad at the top will be appreciated.

Jules

Hi Jules,

We will need the model# of your dryer to help you on that heating element pan assembly, its located inside the dryer door.

Yes, I know your frustration with that bearing plate, for the life of me I've never understood why the parts factory didn't already thread that.

I always used my power drill with the Phillips screwdriver bit attached, as its almost impossible to hand thread it.

Post dryer drum bearing assembly for frigidaire dryer

model # FSE747GES1... I see now the heating coils are fried.. but there's a piece of heat resistant felt like material...now burnt edges that used to be stapled to the metal "pan" that everything is attached to. Do i need the whole assembly? or buy the felt and glue? and buy the coils to attach? The "pan" is in good shape.

Also just to FYI the new lower felt glide material only comes in 36 inches.. (here locally) mine needed 4 foot... so I pieced it.. hope it works.

PS. My ex did take care of the bearing plate holes and threaded them for me--- good guy..

Hate to say this .. but would like to do laundry tomorrow LOL

I did it!!!! I did it!!! --all by my self.. with a little help from my friends.... Thanks Jake and kudo's to the ex and the parts guys....... I replaced the whole heating coil assembly pan.. then the dryer wouldn't come on... In a moment of indignation and irritation.. I called the parts store.. They kindly told me just to flip the switch on the breaker box.. IT WORKS..... but now there a thump-e-dee-dump- thump sound.. Is the drum not level???? Dang it.... Please dryer Goddessess.. let me get this one LAST thing fixed... I need time to NOT spend on the dryer so I can read. And I need the the money to buy the book -on how to stop smoking.....LOL

Thanks for all you guys do you're awesome

Excellent Jules, good job fixing it.

Yes, recheck your drum install to make sure everything is back were it was before to stop the thump-e-dee-dump- thump sound.
