Deanna Kruger is on a distinguished road
Default Electrolux / Frdigiaire frs26r4a

I have had this fridge for appx 5 years, bought it brand new, and it's been a great machine, until we had a power blow-out last week and the leg on the transformer in the alley caused the power to fail to the fridge. After 24 hours I managed to get the electricitians to get it back on, but then found a puddle of water running under the freezer onto the floor. Great way to get you to wash the floor, but not the best.
I opened the door, threw up the lever to turn off the ice system, and then finally told my great handyman that I had a problem. Great as he is, he said he could fix it. well..........
We defrosted the basic components that ran the ice crusher with a hair dryer and got it working again...assume water ran in there and jammed it up, and then worked on the top portion. Got it running, thawed out, wiped down, threw the lever, and it started making ice again...once.
Then I get to wash the floor again!
Not that I don't want to wash the floor, I want ice.
So I found your forum, copied out some of the issues, had him read them, and we started over. Thawed everything out and ran the ice maker, washed the floor.
After three times, the floor is clean, the icemaker isn't doing it's thing. I've ordered a diode, thinking that may work, but he doesn't know where to put it in, doesn't really think that is the problem...we'll see...
So, I finally threw the door open this morning, the fingers on the icemaker are throwing over, the lever is popping up, the water is running in the box, and over AGAIN. The original ice is in the box. So something isn't telling it that it is full...or what???
Hints, help?

Deanna

Hi Deanna,

It sounds like the fill tube in the back of the freezer has come out of the ice maker. It sits in a little bracket on the end of the icemaker. I'll see if I can find you a picture to go by if you need it. Sounds like when the icemaker gets cold enough it goes into a harvest cycle. At the end of the cycle it calls for water, misses the icemaker and ends up on your floor.

It's hitting the ice maker...it just doesn't seem to know when to turn off. Is there a celenoid (sp) that shuts the water off on a timed cycle?
He seems to think the down time may have affected a part like that.

Ok,

You'll need to order the water inlet valve, thats whats causing it to keep filling.

Here's the one for your model you can order:
Manufacturer part#241734301 is RepairClinic item#1259226

Its located in the back of your refrigerator, your water supply line hooks up to it. You'll need to pull your refrigerator out from the wall, remove the lower back access panel to change it.

I knew this was going to be fun. He called this morning. Wants to know what the water fill volume adjustment screw does, and if that does anything with the timer for the water fill. Instead of just ordering a part, we have to trouble shoot....

The adjustment screw is used for minor adjustments. It sounds like the solenoid on the water valve is weak. The way to check it is to use a volt meter on the solenoid and see if the water shuts off the same time line voltage is removed. It sounds like it might sticking open for second or two before it closes.
