I have a Frigidaire Heavy Duty Extra Large Washer/Dryer Stack, 2 speed 3/4 hp motor. I don't see a model number. (there is a place on the dryer door that is sticky and looks like a sticker use to be there.)

Sometimes the washer would still be full of water after the end of a cycle, but that seemed to be when I did a lot of laundry in one day. I couldn't just turn it to spin again, the water would still be in there. I figured out that if I waited several hours and started the cycle again, it would work. (Like my washer was worn out from too much laundry! lol)

Now, after the washer is filled with water and starts to agitate it is VERY loud and is when it is spinning as well (same noise I believe). I put it on spin to get the water out and when it was done, it smelled a little like it was burning. We're hoping that it's not the motor, but something simple or cheaper. So, it spins just fine and agitates fine, other than the horrible noise.

I would appreciate any information!!

Unfortunatly, thats what it sounds like. The motor. The model number is probably on the very top of the machine.

So, in your opinion, when a motor is bad is the repair job too expensive to justify fixing it and not just getting another one?
Any idea how much it would cost?
I did look on top of the machine for the model number, but there wasn't anything.

I need the model number to look up the price of the motor. Then I can give you a better answer to that question. How old is the machine and how much use does it get? Here are a few other places to look; around the bottom on the sides and on the back of the washer.

well, my husband looked on the back too and all over the thing really and the only place that we could find anything is where a sticker had been removed.
There was a number along with an 800 number, but it looks like the number that goes with that sticker...this is what they were...

But I don't think that those will be of any help. I hope that I'm wrong.

OK, I looked up a Frigidaire Laundry Center and it looks like the model tag is suppose to be on the end of the dryer door. Right where your sticky spot is. If you remove the screws in the angled panel right above the washer there should be a big yellow envelope taped to the back of it. Inside is the tech sheet and wiring diagram. It may have the part number of the motor. Also the part number might be on the motor itself. How old is this machine and how much use does it get. The model I looked up is a top load washer and not a front load model. What is yours?

we purchased it used about a year ago and I don't know how much they used it...and they said it wasn't too old, maybe 5 years? I do probably 5-8 loads a week. It is a top load.

That motor is going to run you around $225 to $280. That's just for the part. The rest of the machine is still going to be 6 years old. That's about the time parts start wearing out. You might be dollars ahead to invest that money in a new machine. Let's just say, for example, 6 months from now the dryer motor goes out. If you paid for a service call to replace the washer motor and then again for the dryer motor, you will have paid more than a brand new machine costs. I'm not saying the dryer motor will go out , just something to think about.
