Default Dryer won't start.

The Model Number is: FDE336RES1. At least I hope it is. My daughter copied it off.

The dryer worked for one load but when the start button was pushed for the second nothing happened. I checked the breaker, and put an electrical tester at the outlet and could find nothing wrong.

The only life I could detect out of the dryer was a faint sound coming from the timer/control when I pressed the start button.

From what I have read, it could be the motor or, the thermal limiter switch. Any ideas??

Thanks,
Dave in NC

Hi Dave,

Ohm your thermal limiter for continuity with an ohm meter.

Here's the one for your model, in case you need to order it:
Manufacturer's Part: 134120900
Thermal limiter

Its #36 here:

Or you can just jump it to see if the dryer will come on.

How to take apart:
Disconnect power first
Unplug the dryer. Get the top up by pushing in on 2 clips on either side as shown in this picture.

spin the drum- does it turn "easy"? with little resistance? could be the belt- had one yesterday, powered, timer ticking, belt broken(put slightly smaller one on so customer no need wait) and of course i checked all the bases until i noticed belt broken 5 minutes into it.

Thanks for the help. Next time I get to the beach where this dryer is at, I'll check it out and let you know what I find.
