Unhappy water dispenser problem

My frigidaire REfrigerator, model FRS26ZRG: water dispenser quit working. i opened the cup holding the filter and checked. when you press the water switch on the refrigerator door, the water comes out of the filter. when i replace the filter and the cup, the dispenser dispenses water for a few minutes and works a few times. but after an hour it quits working again.

To make it work again, i have to remove the cup holding the filter and reinstall. when i do that, it works for a few minutes to an hour and then quits again.

the repairman replaced the water pump switch at the base of the refrigerator only six months ago.

please help.

Hi svrao,

Please check your model# again, there should be 2 more letters at the end of it or a letter and a number. The model# tag should be located inside your refrigerator section on the upper walls or ceiling.

The repairman replaced the water inlet valve you mean? In the back of your refrigerator?

Ok, then we need to find out which one he replaced, as you have 2 on your model. You'll likely need to change the other now.

When one is bad, its always best to change both, as they work together.

Here's the water inlet valves for your model:
Manufacturer part number 218859701 is RepairClinic item number 452316
218859701

Manufacturer part number 218832401 is RepairClinic item number 452252
218832401

Hi, a couple of months ago, i had a question about the water dispenser. you were kind enough to reply and gave me part numbers and the water pumps i was to replace.
The problem was:
My frigidaire REfrigerator, model FRS26ZRG: water dispenser quit working. i opened the cup holding the filter and checked. when you press the water switch on the refrigerator door, the water comes out of the filter. when i replace the filter and the cup, the dispenser dispenses water for a few minutes and works a few times. but after an hour it quits working again.

To make it work again, i have to remove the cup holding the filter and reinstall. when i do that, it works for a few minutes to an hour and then quits again.

the repairman replaced the water pump switch at the base of the refrigerator only six months ago.
When i put the glass to the water switch, i can hear the pump humming, but the water does not come out.

As you suggested, i would like to replace the water pumps.

can you please give me the step by step diagrams of replacing the water pumps?
You gave : Manufacturer part No.218859701. Repair clinic item No. 452316
Manufacturer part No.218832401. Repar clinic item No. 452252

Thanks for your help.

Hi svrao,

There isn't a step by step diagram to replace them, all you do it turn the water supply off to your refrigerator, take off the water supply line to your water inlet valve, then unmount the water inlet valves, take off the electrical connectors to them, make down on paper were they go, then take off the plastic tubing to them, then install the water inlet valves the same way you took the old ones off.

The water inlet valves I posted a link to above are located in the back of your refrigerator, pull your refrigerator out from the wall, then take off the lower back access panel and you should see them on one side or the other.

I am repeating the question because i could not solve problem yet and i would appreciate your help.

My frigidaire REfrigerator, model FRS26ZRGD6: water dispenser quit working. i opened the cup holding the filter and checked. when you press the water switch on the refrigerator door, the water comes out of the filter. when i replace the filter and the cup, the dispenser dispenses water for a few minutes and works a few times. but after an hour it quits working again.

To make it work again, i have to remove the cup holding the filter and reinstall. when i do that, it works for a few minutes to an hour and then quits again.

I checked the inlet valve located at the bottom on the back. it is working.
I did ask this question before and you were kind enough to help. but it was my fault that i could not locate the two extra digits you were asking for in the model number. now on closer look, i did find them.

I am able to open the bottom back panel and locate the inlet vale which is working fine. i also checked the water tube coil inside the regrigerator behind the bottom shelf and it is full.

can you help me with this repair? thank you for your patience.
please help.
svrao

svrao,

Its very hard to diagnose a problem like this when its intermittent, works then stops working. When I run into a issue like this I change both water inlet valves and the problem is gone. Since the repair tech changed only one water inlet valve, the other will need to be changed too.

You may want to contact the repair tech that was there and ask which one he/she replaced. Then replace the one that wasn't replaced.

hi, thanks for the quick reply. i called the tech. he replaced the one at the bottom , which i am able to see by opening the lower back panel.

all i now need is steps to locate the the other inlet valve and replace it.

do you have steps to locate the other inlet valve and how to access it?
when i look at the back of the refrigerator, the only portion that can be removed is located at the bottom. it is a black cardboard rectangular piece anchored to the refrigerator horizontally with screws. i can open this and i can the inlet valve that has been replaced.

Thanks so much/
svrao

Yes svrao,

With the back cardboard off you will see 1 valve on the left side of the inner cabinet and the other one on the right side of the inner cabinet.

Its funny the tech. would say the one at the bottom, but there are 2 at the bottom.

Did he give you a receipt for the part# of the valve he changed?
