Hi Guys,
I have a Frigidaire model FRS26ZSHB0 that is not cooling. I took the cardboard of the lower part of the back. and vacuumed it out. It was relatively clean. There is a fan located right there and it is not coming on at all. There is no hum that I normally associate with the frig running. The Freezer is still cold, but the ice appears to be melting. Any Ideas where to start. I sure don't. Thanks, Kyle |

Hi Kyle,
Was the compressor running and the condenser fan motor not running? Did you turn the fan blade to see if it was stuck or something jamming the blades? Here's the condenser fan motor for your model: Manufacturer's Number: 215501901 Jake

Thanks for the response. Here is an update. Found back panel of freezer frozen. Removed back panel of freezer, completely thawed it out. Replugged frig. Back fan and interior fan above cool fins came back on. Turned it on has been about 15 mins so far. Can't tell if it is going to cool yet. Coils in rear are starting to frost up again. Will the Frig cool with the panel off? So I am waiting for now making sure it is going to actually cool. I'm guessing it is going to frost up again. But I will post an update. look forward to any comments.
Thanks Again, Kyle |

Ok Kyle,
Just put the back panel back in place inside the freezer loosely, don't tighten the screws all the way, in case you need to open up again. It sounds like a auto-defrost part is bad, if the evap. coils were all frosted up. After it runs awhile force it in defrost by turning your defrost timer clockwise with a flathead screwdriver slowly till it makes the refrigerator stop running. The defrost timer is located behind the bottom access kickplate grill on the left side, its #23 here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/part...5644-00006.png Let it stay in defrost, defrost cycle takes about 20-30 minutes, then the defrost timer should automatically turn the refrigerator back on to cool. While its in the defrost cycle, take the back panel off again from inside your freezer and see if the defrost heater is on, just feel towards the bottom of your evaporator coils, you should feel warmth/heat. Here's the defrost timer for your model: Manufacturer's Number: 215846602 Report back what you find. Jake

I did as instructed by turning defrost timer with screwdriver. Evap. coils defrosted in minutes. I guess we are saying the Defrost timer is bad, right?
Thanks for all your help. I'll be ordering this part unless instructed otherwise. Thanks, Kyle |

Yup, if it went into defrost ok and the defrost heater came on, then the defrost timer is malfunctioning, the new defrost timer should fix it.
Jake
