Default [FIXED] drian pump buzzes, won't drain

Hello everyone

I have a 2 year old frigidaire professional series 3 speed dishwasher that won't drain anymore. The drain pump just buzzes a different noise than usual. I've had a similar draining problem at my last house and found a piece of glass had worked it's way down to the drin pump impeller. This new dishwasher problem I'm not quite sure. I took off the inside stuff down to the guts,no big pieces of junk. I removed the drain pump, took it apart and saw nothing really wrong.A little bit of crap in the system but nothing significant. When I started after I had cleaned up what I could , I noticed water start to drain out of the drain motor hose then kind of stall, with the drain motor just buzzing. Why is this happening?
Thanks
Kevin

Thanks Kevin,

Ok, then if the drain motor is just humming and not pumping the water out, and nothing is jammed in it, then the problem is drain motor bearing is bad.

You'll need to replace the drain motor assembly.

Here's the one for your model:
Manufacturer part number 154580301 is RepairClinic item number 1257094

Jake

Thanks for the info! I find it hard to believe the motor is bad after only 2 years. Is this normal?
Is there any thing I can check that I might have missed? Someone else mentioned the loud solenoid click I should hear when switching from wash to drain, I don't remember hearing that.

Yes, I've seen these drain motors go bad within a year.

I can't think of anything else to check, it seems pretty cut & dry that the problem is the drain motor if its just humming and not turning.

Well.... I decided to make sure my drain hose was not blocked. I pulled off the connection at the sink drain pipe and noticed some black sludge at the end of the drain hose. It didn't look like it was enough to stop the flow, but it was. I cleaned the end of the hose out and now all seems fine. How does this sludge get by the filters in the dishwasher? Also , I think I see the cause of this hose getting plugged. The place where the hose connects to the drain pipe is clamped to a piece of rubber first, then to a metal spout. I don't think it's connected right. Can you show me a diagram of the proper connection?
Thanks
Kevin

Yes Kevin thats connected properly, the sludge just builds up over time.

Glad you found the problem and got it fixed.
