Default Frigidaire - Fridge side freezing / compressor hot to touch

Greetings -
This site has been a fantastic help in the past and I am hoping it will again.

Model is Frigidaire FRS26R4AB6, side by side, 6~7 years old. Starting yesterday the fridge side has been freezing liquids. A digital thermometer showed 25.6' F. Water and ice make do not work, water filter is frozen in place.

Rolled unit out from wall to clean coils. They aren't horrible dirty, but going to clean never the less. Upon reaching in to get at dust, noticed the compressor was hot, as in it burned my hand as I reached past it.

From what I have some looking around on here my initial thought was the control housing and damper (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral...=1265&N=948779 . But when I got to the hot compressor I am stumped (or do they get that hot).

So to sum, fridge side is frozen, water line to ice maker and water dispenser is frozen and compressor is VERY hot to the touch.

THANKS!!!

David

Yes, the compressors on this model do get hotter than most, just make sure your condenser coil underneath/in back of your refrigerator is clean and not clogged with pet hair/lint/dirt/etc. and also make sure your condenser fan motor that sits next to you compressor is running.

But yes, it does sound like you console/damer assembly you posted the link to above is the problem.
