Default FRS26ZNH - Ice Container Rust. Might be a simple Question

Need some assistance here, and would like to apologize in advance, if I use improper terms. The ice-maker on my Frigidaire FRS26ZNH does work, and the question I have might be about ice-makers in general. The ice container fan blade type part that dispenses the ice through the door, over time has gathered a little rust. The issue I am having is that at times, when ice is not dispensed on a regular basis, the ice cubes against this blade, gather some rust as well. So I am caught sorting though cubes when ice is needed. I did some research and the whole tray assembly is $100+, which is a bit hefty in my opinion. So I was looking to, either remove the rust or seal it in some way so that the rust does not make contact with the ice, and product used cannot be hazardous, since the ice will most of the time be consumed. Thanks for any input/suggestions

Hi,

I really don't know what product you could use to remove the rust, but whatever you use, it needs to be food-grade to protect yourself from harmful chemicals coming in contact with the ice. You could go to your local appliance parts store in your area and ask them.

Here's the ice bucket container assembly for your model:
