Default [FIXED] Frigidaire FTFB4000GS1 won't spin

    Hello-
I've got a Frigidaire FTFB4000GS1 front loading washer that won't spin (3 months after the warranty ran out). The machine is less than 18 months old.
    Symptoms:
Washer goes through wash cycle fine, then spin setting indicator light goes to "no spin" and washer just pumps out the water.
Selecting "Drain/Spin" begins the water pump again, and washer again goes to "no spin" and finishes pumping water out. Door lock light is on, door can't be opened until light goes out.
I can occasionally get the machine to spin, but only once, and not for the normal duration. It then goes through the above described symptoms. It seems as if the machine will sometimes (rarely) spin on an empty load (or this could be a coincidence).

I have replaced the motor control board. The symptoms are still the same. I have also disassembled the drain and pump, there are no clogs and the pump is working smoothly. The tub is also rotating smoothly.

I read the "sticky" about the door latch, but I don't see a test connector anywhere. Holding the door firmly closed has no effect on the symptoms. Is there a way for me to check the door latch before ordering one?

Also, is it possible that the motor control board is the problem and I smoked the new one?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Rob

    Hi Rob,

Yes, its possibly the door latch/lock assembly.

Here's the door latch/lock assembly for your model you can order:
    Manufacturer's Number: 131763245

    131763245

Here's the repair manual on this model too, that you can check the diagnostics for an error code:
    www.applianceblog.com/manuals/5995413084_Washer_2004.pdf
You can print out the pages you need.

    Default Thanks!

    Thanks Jake!
I downloaded the repair manual, and I went ahead and ordered a door latch assembly. I figured I might as well since it seems like a high failure item.
Now that I think of it, there have been several times when the door latch acted funny. A couple of times it buzzed loudly at me; I reclosed the door and it seemed fine.
I'll go through the diagnostics tomorrow and see what pops up.

Thanks again for all the help,
    Rob

    Default More developments...

    Hi Jake-
    Well, here's what happened:

I got the new door latch assembly in and I still had the same symptom. So I went through the diagnostics (all went fine) and checked the error codes. I got E41, "the control board thinks the door is open". Sigh.

So I ordered a new control board. I put it in yesterday and it solved the problem. (YAY!)

So far, so good, and I don't mind having the spare parts on hand because I know these items will probably fail in the future.

While going through the diagnostics I also noticed that the water fill level is way too low. So I also ordered a pressure switch. But I have a question about it:
There are a couple of adjustments on it (the switch). Is there a procedure for adjusting it? I didn't see anything in the service manual other than to replace it (which I'm going to do anyway). But it would be nice to have a good spare handy, so I'm wondering if you can tell me which of the two adjusting screws to turn, and which way?

I'm VERY happy that I got the darn thing working again! Thanks for all the help on this, and especially for the link to the service manual. I'm just a few steps away from being an expert on this machine!

Excellent, good job fixing it Rob.

Here's the control board for your model, in case others need to order it as well:
Manufacturer part number 137005000 is RepairClinic item number 1464889
    137005000

Now for the water pressure switch, no you can't adjust the switch to put more water in, I'd first take your fill hoses off and check the water inlet valve screens, a lot of times those can clog up with dirt/sediment that come from your city or well water.

Frigidaire FTFB4000GS1, front-loading washing machine won't spin. We've cleaned the pump filter, the pump drain, we've replaced the drive belt, and the door locks connect fully with no problems. The motor sounds like its running fine. We attempted to test the spin cycle, (by holding spin button down), it runs through the motion of "draining" the drum and when it gets to the point where it would begin to spin, it doesn't. When I ran the diagnostics i received error code E5A; "Replace the speed control board" Will this fix it? This machine has been nothing but headaches since he first day.

Yup, then a new motor speed control board should fix it.

Here's the motor controller board for your model:
    Manufacturer's Number: 134743500

    134743500

If you purchase parts from our links here and you install them and it doesn't fix the problem, you have a 365 day full refund when you return them.
