Default Ice Not Dispensing

Frigidaire part number 241695101

Here is my issue.

My wife filled up here cup with ice. 5 minutes later, I tried and the dispenser is not working. No noise, nothing. Here are a few of my observations:

1. After pressing the ice dispenser lever in about 20 times, I heard the motor kick on for a second and 3 cubes of ice were dispensed. I tried to get it to come on again, to no avail....no humming noise now or anything.

2. The dispenser lever that you push is able to be pushed in, but the flap that covers the hole where the ice gets dispensed will not go back to the closed position on its own..i am having to do it manually.

3. I removed the ice bin and turned the auger gear. It turns but I would not say it is turning 'freely'.....you do have to rotate it with your hand and it makes a slight humming noise as you do so.

4. About 2 months ago I had to replace the water dispenser lever....as it broke off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Barry

Hi Barry,

I would need the model# of your refrigerator. Its located inside the refrigerator section on the upper walls or ceiling.

Thanks Barry,

Its not uncommon for the water dispenser actuator and ice dispenser actuator to go bad about within the same time, I think thats the issue.

Did the ice door flap issue happen at the same time? or has that been an ongoing problem?

Here's the ice dispenser actuator for your model:

I only became aware of the flap remaining open at the same point in time that the ice stopped dispensing...so i cannot say for sure if it had been an ongoing problem or not.

Will replacing this dispensing lever fix the flap issue as well?

Possibly, but I'd first check your ice dispenser lever actuator to make sure thats not broken.

Do you hear the switch click when you push-in on the ice dispenser lever?

If so then its possibly your power board thats bad.

Here is the one for your model you can order:
Part#241708102

Jake - No, no click at all.

Is the dispenser lever the piece you press the glass against to dispense the ice. When that is pressed in, no click at all. Also, when it is pressed in it stays in the 'pressed in position) and does not come back to the original position unless i do it manually (thus the flap remains open)

Yes,

You're going to need to get into your dispenser assembly and physically see what may be the issue.

Here's the parts diagram:
