Default refrigerator won't stop running???

I have a frigedaire top mount refrigerator about 5 years old that just won't stop running. Everything seems to work fine , it just that the fan/compressor is on all the time. I have a small house and can hear it from everywhere.
I didn't ever notice it until now, so i'm not sure if this just started occurring or if my sensitivities to noise have increased.
Is it normal for a fridge to run constantly?
I had my repair tech hear, and he said he couldn't find any problems and that it is common for the fridge to run regularly, but I feel there has to be another way!!!
Are there any fridge models out there that are known to run less or more quiet?
I have a small space 29" width so it would be a smaller 18 or so cu ft

thank you!!!

Hi,

Whats the brand and model# you have now? The model# tag is located inside the refrigerator section on the upper walls or ceiling.

Its normal, Compressors run about 80% of the time nowadays, but uses less electricity.

Thanks,

Yes, it should be fine if the temperatures in the freezer is 0-10 degrees and refrigerator section 36-40 degrees.

You may want to get a thermometer to keep in your freezer/refrigerator sections.

This is the one I use in mine:
Thermometer
