Default [FIXED] Frigidaire gltf1670as0 Spider Broken ADVISE!

Ok I have a gtlf1670as0 front load washer with what sounds like a broken spider bracket on the drum. The symptoms I have read on here for a broken spider is what I encountered (loud banging noise while spinning and a loose feel to the drum while agitating).

I have only removed the rear cover and spun the drum by hand and can hear something hitting/rubbing/clunking in between the plastic drum housing and the drum it self. The bearing seams ok as does the large pulley and belt.

So it sound like a broken spider right???

If so, it is out of warranty, and I do not have the receipt so is replacing the drum my only option??? Or is there a replacement spider available?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Please double check your model# again, that one isn't showing as good.

Yes, sounds like a broken spider, but also may be a bad bearing.

This thread explains all about it:

Sorry it is GLTF1670AS0, Thanks the bearing looks good and the bearing has no play when the drum is moved. So if it is the spider, the only fix is a new drum correct?

Thanks again

Yes, you will need a new inner spin tub which includes the spider:
Part#131618500
Inner tub with spider and shaft

Yes, always replace the tub seal when changing either the inner or outer tubs:
Manufacturer part number 134146100 is RepairClinic item number 936915

There should be an edit button, but the default time should be about 40 minutes to edit.

My washer is fixed!!!! Thanks for all the help. Now that I have had this machine apart and did the hardest repair on it, any future repairs will be easy..but I never want to do that drum or washer tub again!!!!

Also to help extend the life on the the spider bracket do you recommend a de-calcifier like CLR once in a while??? Any other products out there besides using HE detergents?

thanks again

Good job fixing it.

I'd recommend these 2 products:
Affresh HE Washer Cleaner
