Exclamation Replacing Timer on Frigidaire FL?

I have a Frigidaire front loader, model 417.39022890. It was having trouble advancing through the cycles and a repair man came and diagnosed a bad timer. He ordered another one (and we paid at least twice what it's worth now that I've been searching on the net), and said he would come back when the part arrived to install it, for another $75. We got by because the permanent press cycle was working fine until this morning! Now it's not working and I have a wet load in there!

Well we absolutely refuse to pay him to come here again for such a simple installation. I have the timer, and i have removed the old one's wiring, but now I cannot remove the knob on the front. The knob and dial are seated into the little pink plastic thing pretty hard and it looks as though it just pops out, but i'm afraid to break the plastic dial! Elsewhere I read that some pop in, some have pins or screws that need to be removed.

How do I get the knob and dial assembly off the front of the timer?

Thanks!

Hi,

This might help....a copy:

A tip for removing the Front load Frigidaire washer timer knob ( Frigidaire builds most of the GE & Kenmore front load washers ).....push in on the dial while turning counter-clockwise to unscrew. Then use pliers to squeeze the timer indicator locking tabs while pulling out.
