Frigidaire error codes E5E and E5F
Brand:
Frigidaire
Age:
6-10 years
I have a Frigidaire GLTF2940ES0 washing machine that will not start.
I have run the diagnostics and get error codes E5E or E5F. It sounds as if everything is working except that the drum motor never runs.
The Data Sheet in the washer suggests checking the wiring between the Control Board and the Motor Control Board. I have visually inspected them and have disconnected and reconnected them at the Control Board end, wiggled them at the other end, and all seem fine. I saw no evidence of corrosion.
The Data Sheet recommends replacing the Control Board. If the problem persists, it recommends replacing the Motor Control Board.
I have checked the heavy blue and black wires near the Control Board and they go to 110V when the motor should run. A post somewhere on the net suggested that this indicates that the Motor Control Board is faulty.
Given the cost of the boards (about $140 for the Control Board and $110 for the Motor Control Board) I am not very excited about the risk of replacing the wrong one. My present inclination is to replace the Motor Control Board.
Can anyone suggest any way to be more certain about which board is at fault?

Yes, sounds like the motor control board then, the lowest price I found for the motor control board is $167, where did you see it for $110?
Here's the motor controller board for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 134743500

134743500
If you purchase parts from our links here and you install them and it doesn't fix the problem, you have a 365 day full refund when you return them.

Correct part number
The "Supplier Type" number I read on the unit is 4246991c00
The part number listed in the Frigidaire Parts Manual shows it as 134409900
Under the Frigidaire part number, they do seem to be about $165 online.
When I searched for the first number, I find hits on 4246-99-1, such as this one for $116 with shipping:

I am curious to know how you were able to conclude that it is the motor control board and not the control board.
If you can provide a link to the correct board at a reasonable price, I'd gladly buy it through here.

Part number update
I do see from the link here that the part number has been superceded by the one you provided.
I've seen it for $110-120 on eBay (claimed to be new) and $146 (with shipping) from eCommerce Sales Consultants at:

I left a couple of replies here, but they never showed up. I'm not sure what I got wrong.
I went ahead and purchased the 134743500 and installed it today. The first problem that I ran into is that it is not quite the same physically as the original one. Clip on the rear that connects into the bottom of the washing machine is designed differently and doesn't appear to fit. I struggled with it for a while, then gave up. I pulled the circuit board out and installed it in the old plastic housing and it mounted in the washing machine with little effort.
I ran the diagnostics and came up with the E5E error again. After a bit of rechecking connections and such, the symptom changed. When I apply power to the washing machine I get a code of 18h and can't seem to clear it. I have left it off for a while, pressed Cancel, pressed and held Cancel and Options and none will clear the code.
Do you have any suggestions on where to proceed from here?

You get what you pay for.
Its best not to buy appliance parts on ebay or amazon.

(not sure if my reply posted, so will try it again)
"Its best not to buy appliance parts on ebay or amazon." That is an interesting comment as it parallels the one that I got from the local appliance parts store that sold me the board: "Don't buy from anyone online as they cannot be trusted."
Do you have any comments about the symptoms or questions I posted?

Thats interesting, we give a full 365 day refund, do they? Even after you install it and it doesn't fix it.
Now you can't return it.
Then its the control board thats bad, I try to help everyone the best I can without being their with your appliance. Do a forum search for all the threads marked [FIXED], there is well over 10,000 that we have helped fix. So that "Don't buy from anyone online as they cannot be trusted." statement can be thrown out the window.
I have checked the heavy blue and black wires near the Control Board and they go to 110V when the motor should run. A post somewhere on the net suggested that this indicates that the Motor Control Board is faulty.
From what you said here it sounded to me like it was the motor control board, just like you had thought as well.
Then when you come on and say I can get it for this price or that price on ebay or amazon, thats where I get frustrated, because I know all the members here that have done that, then they come back to me and say that didn't fix it, then they order from my link and it fixes it.
Here's the control board assembly for your model:
