Couple screws on the back of the top panel and it comes off. You'll see the screws for the control panel. Remove them and the console comes off . Two screws holding the the top of the front panel and it lifts off.

If the thermistor was a snake, as soon as you remove the front panel it would bite you on the ankle...LOL #15

Rick, I got my parts in yesterday and thought I would do some practicing with the volt-meter. I checked the new thermistor at room temp on the 20k as you said and I got nothing, but when I moved it to the 200k setting I got a reading at first of around 49 but it then settled to about 40 after a few minutes. I also tried it on the beep setting and it would not beep. Does this sound right?

That sounds right. The thermistor should read 50K Ohms or 50,000 Ohms at room temperature. So on the 200K setting you got 49K or 49,000 Ohms which is right on the money. I said check it on the 20K scale, didn't I? I'm allowed one mistake a year, I guess that was it!
