Frigidaire Water Dispenser Leak Question
Brand:
Frigidaire
Age:
6-10 years
I have a persistent leak from the water dispenser nozzle. I have looked at numerous other posts regarding the same symptoms, but have yet to find a solution to our problem. The drip occurs mainly after two distinct actions:
1. When the ice maker is filling the tray, a steady stream of water comes from the dispenser nozzle.
2. After using the water dispenser, it drips steadily for approximately 20-30 seconds.
After spending quite some time observing the fridge, not a very entertaining endeavor, the above are the only times it drips. It drips only from the nozzle and not from behind the panel. I removed the front panel and and verified that the water tube is securely attached.
Any ideas??? Thanks in advance!
Derek

Derek, your machine uses an isolation valve and a couple diodes that control the flow of electricity to the right solenoid. One of the diodes is bad. Replace this part and problem fixed.

Hi Rick,
I ordered the above diode kit, replaced it and still have the persistent drip problem from the water dispenser. Do you have any other ideas as to what might be causing this issue?
Thanks

The diodes should have fixed the problem of water being dispensed when the ice maker is filling. Does it still drip from the dispenser after dispensing water, then stop or does it drip continuously? Does the dispenser drip after the ice maker fills? It could be the the dispenser solenoid on the secondary water valve may be weak or there could be a water filter issue. The water for the dispenser comes from the primary water valve, through the filter and into the secondary water valve. Disconnect the water line from the water filter at the secondary water valve. Hold the water line over a container and have someone push the dispenser. See if it drips out of that line after the dispenser is stopped. If it does continue to drip, replace the primary water valve. If the water filter hasn't been replaced for a while do that first. You might have to remove the water lines from the filter housing and use a razor blade to cut off a 1/2" and then reconnect them. You might have to do the same thing on the dispenser water line connections on the secondary valve and at the connection under the lower freezer door hinge. Reconnect the water line and then disconnect the dispenser water line from under the dispenser solenoid and repeat the same test holding the valve over a container. If the water valve drips when the dispenser is stopped, replace the secondary water valve. If not, the water coil in the refrigerator may have a problem or restriction.

Yes, I've run into this problem a few times after I replaced the diode kit as well. You will likely need to replace the water inlet valve too, thats what I did, and it worked great.
Here's the water inlet valve for your model:
