Dishwasher fills, drains but does not wash
Brand:
Frigidaire
Age:
1-5 years
My Frigidaire dishwasher fills and drains with water, but does not wash. I have replaced the water fill valve and float switch, but that has not fixed the problem. The unit is 2 years and 3 months old. The heating element and float are working fine. The unit worked fantastic up until now. Any ideas on what may be the problem? Thanks.

When it goes into the wash cycle, use a VOM to check for 120 VAC at the two wires on the circulation motor. If the voltage is correct, replace the circulation motor:

The video shows how to replace the pump. So I just follow the same process, but instead of removing the pump just remove the wires and then test the wires with a voltmeter, right? And the wires will still have the 120 VAC even though the circuit breaker is turned off? Sorry if I sound dumb - I have never worked on a dishwasher prior to now.

This is how you do it; Power off, insert the meter probes into the wire connector on the motor. Make sure the meter is set to check VAC. Power on, start dishwasher on a normal cycle. After the machine fills, it starts the wash cycle. Make sure you have all heated wash, sani-cycle turned off. When the machine starts the wash cycle your meter should indicate 120 VAC. If the voltage reading is correct and the motor is not running the motor needs to be replaced.
