Default Frigidaire Door Water Dispenser Leak

My 1 year old Frigidaire side by side refrigerator started leaking at the water/ice door dispenser after I replaced the PureSource2 water filter. Water runs down the outside of my freezer door when you try to fill a glass of water. I called a repair man and he said (besides saying it wasn't covered under my appliance insurance) he would have to remove the water/ice dispenser panel to re-connect the water tube. He assumed the water supply tube was disconnected at the dispensing nozzel. However, he said he would not remove the panel until he orders and receives a new dispenser panel, because the retaining clips and/or face panel always break when you try to remove them.
Is this true? I don't want to pay for a "back-up" water/ice dispenser unless it's really needed. I already paid $35.00 just for the repair guy to come out and look at my refrigerator.
Can somebody tell me how to remove the ice/water door dispenser without damaging it?
I'm sure I could reconnect or replace the water tube myself, if I could only get to it.
My refrigerator is a stainless steel Frigidaire Professional Series side by side Model PHSC39EESS3

Thanks

Hi,

Did you buy the extended warranty on your refrigerator? If so, did you buy it at the time you purchased your refrigerator, because your leaking water dispenser should be covered under that.

Even if not, you should still not be having this kind of a problem at the 1 yr. old mark.

Contact Frigidaire directly and explain this to them, if they want to keep customers happy and coming back for more purchases, they should fix it for no charge.

rsmbud,

I had a similar problem with mine. (1yr old SS Frigidaire side by side pro series, PLHS269ZBD9 built 5/05) In my case water was leaking from behind the ice dispenser panel, regardless on using the dispenser. Upon further review I noticed that the ice in the ice tray was melting. After consulting the user guide I determined that the condenser might be dirty. I opened the back panel to find a perfectly clean condenser.

What I did find was that the fan blade had fallen off of the shaft. It appears that this caused the system to over heat and shut down. I slid the fan blade back on the shaft and today I have ice.

Not knowing how long the fan blade had been off I would also like to mention that for several weeks prior, I had noticed a major increase in temperature on the metal frame (it was hot) which separates the Freezer and Fresh Food sides.

Just thought I would share this with the group. Might save someone a buck or two.

Does anyone know how to take the panel off? I'm having a similar problem with my FRS23LH5DSP side-by-side. Water comes out of the nozzle and everywhere around it. So I'm guessing the water tube was dislogged. I've tried to take the front panel off by lifting it. The left side came out, but I can't seem to get the rest off. I can see why the repair guys says it always breaks. Hopefully the 2 attached pictures come out ok.

Ok, never mind. I got help from someone on another forum. I had to slide out the drip tray first (that was a major PIA). That was the hardest part actually. After that, there's 3 screws below where the drip tray was. Unscrew and wa-la! After that it was a piece of cake. BTW, the hose was dangling in mid air with the tip just out of the way of all the electircal wiring. That would not have been good . I had to push a rolled piece of cardboard in there so the hose wouldn't pop up again. I'll be emailing Frigidaire and letting them know what bad design that is.
