Default Frigidaire SC183NW3

Jake

My fridge is still working great. A friend has the above fridge whish is getting water/ice in the bottom of the freezer. We took the panel off the back and removed the ice. The drain hole is clear. I suspect that for some reason the small wire which leads from the heating/defrost element is not sufficient to keep the drain hole free from ice. We decided it would be a good idea to add 2 more wires in the same manner to get more heat to the hole during defrost.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Jake

New problem on my fridge. The switch that works the light in the fresh food compartment flickered on and off over the last few weeks and now the light is off more than on. Does this switch wear out or develop a short?

How do I remove without doing further damage? Thanks

Also, the fix to my friends fridge did not work. He put an extra copper wire around the defrost coil and put that into the drain hole and he is still getting ice in the bottom of the compartment. Strange. How can it be hot enough to defrost and make the water yet not hot enough to keep the drain hole open?

Thanks again.

Scott

I would check the light bulb to make sure its not loose or on the verge of going out.

With drain hole issue, make sure he can run something down the drain line like 1/4" plastic tubing to make sure no other clogs exist.

Default Actuator-Ice

Jake,

I need to replace the Ice Actuator and wondered it you could provide a link showing disassembly/assembly that I could look at before I start.

I have the part and a link to the model diagram is http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5122657

Section 3 - Dispenser shows the breakout and the part is 24a

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott,

Its in Section/Diagram#4

Just remove the dispenser frame Part location#4 then remove the dispenser module#8, then you can get access to the ice actuator.

Thanks Jake

It was really easy. Only problem was the water dispenser line was too short to allow work on the assembly...until I pushed up more line from the bottom of the door.

New Ice Actuator works great. In fact, the axle that the black rubber flapper valve sits on (that keeps air out of the freezer) had slipped one end out of its mounting and was making it very hard to activate the Ice Actuator. I slipped that back in and it works better than ever. I suppose the axle is the reason the Actuator broke in the first place.

Default Ice Dispenser auger not working

Hey Jake

Same Frigidaire 18 months later....new problem.

The metal screw/auger in the icemaker spins fine however the clear plastic drum on the end which pushes the ice forward just spins on the end of the auger. There is a flat metal braket on the ice end of the clear plastic drum that looks like it should be fixed to the metal auger. The flat metal bracket fits into notches in the plastic drum and would provide the drive to turn the drum . Since the flat metal bracket just spins on the metal screw/auger, so does the drum .

Is there a way to fix this or can I buy a new metal auger/drum without replacing the whole tray assembly?

Thanks

Scott
