Default Frigidaire REG438QMA-0 Hinges and Springs replaced

A repairman came today and replaced the hinges and springs on our Fridgidaire Range/oven door...it still is not closing properly, and the light stays on all the time. He did not know what else to do.

Can you help?

Does the oven door snap close now, or did it before?

Was the repairman an authorized Frigidaire servicer? You should call him back and let him know this needs to be fixed properly, even if another tech. has to come out.

Did you pay for this repair, or was it under warranty/service contract?

Default Frigidaire oven door....

Jake,

The oven door has never snapped close since we've lived here since 2004 and not sure of the years before that.....the repairman was an authorized, and we paid him because the oven is old (1988, I think) and no longer under warranty.

Thanks,
Dena

Ok, then either have him or another tech. come back to fix it properly, or get your money back. I've changed lots of oven door hinges/springs, and its always fixed it for the ones I did, so something else may be going on, like the oven frame is damaged or the problem is elsewhere.

Default Door Springs and Hinges

The repairman replaced the hinge arms on both sides of the door with #5308003183 Hinge Carniere @ $44.18 each. The springs on both sides of the door were replaced with WB9X5103, a GE renewal part @ $19.15 each....according to the cost from the receipt, and the numbers from the plastic wrapping for both parts. It appears the original springs are no longer available--so what springs will work?

Thanks.

How old is your range?

Yes, I see the oven door springs are no available anymore. I'm not sure what springs would work.

Default Springs...

It's old....circa 1988, I believe....but so are we .....and so is our 101 year old house . I just found a couple of door springs that appear to be authorized substitutions from Sears parts.....#08003264.....I've ordered them, so we hope that they work.

Thanks.

The only other thing I can think of is to take the old springs to a place in your area that makes springs, and see if they can match them up.
