Default [FIXED] Burners Turning on Automaticlly!!

I have a Frigidaire Model # PLES389ECH and the right hand burners will come on automatically. Have had this happen twice, once the right front burner turned on after I had turned off the two left hand burners, and the second time the right rear burner turned on while both left burners were on. I could not turn the burners off, they would adjust with the dial, but to get them to turn off you must disconnect the power to the range.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

I haven't been out to work on this model as of yet, but from the parts diagram it looks like they have made it so it has its on control board assembly that controls it.

So I suspect thats the problem. I'll see if TechnicianBrian can see if this is correct as well.

Here's the surface burner control board for your model, its #54A:
Manufacturer part number 316441801 is RepairClinic item number 1163629

The UEI board is the problem, but I would suggest you contact Frigidaire because this is a safety issue, see if they will offer any repair assistance. The free standing version of this range had a bulletin out last year for this problem along with a repair kit and I heard there may be a recall in the works due to this failure. It never hurts to ask.

Thanks Brian, do you have the part# for the UEI board?

Default Thanks Guys.

I switched out the two right side switches and now the burners do not come on by themselves. I did some research and there is a recall for the free standing version but not the slide in like this one. I will file a report with the CPSC and see if I can get frigidaire to pay for these parts I bought, and all the time I spent working on this.

Thanks for the help.

Tom
