Default Frigidaire double wall oven not heating

    Model Number: PLEB30T8ACB
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: 6-10 years

    Hey experts,
I've got a 9-year-old Frigidaire PLEB30T8ACB double electric wall oven that is giving me fits. A while back the bottom oven quit working. I checked the elements, but I've got continuity. I checked the oven sensor, it checks out okay. Now the top oven is not maintaining temperature. The broil element works, but the bake element does not. Again, I checked the element, and it's got continuity, and the oven sensor is fine.

Anything else I can check that would be relatively inexpensive to fix? To replace the control boards would cost me over $300, and I'm a cheap-ass. Thoughts?

Its possible your thermal fuse in the back of your lower oven is blown. You would need to turn the breaker off to your double oven, then get someone to help you pull it out from the wall, then take off the back access panel and ohm out that thermal fuse for continuity with a ohm meter, you can get a cheap volt/ohm meter at Radio Shack.

Here's the location of your thermal fuse in the back of your double oven, its #119 here:

Here's the thermal fuse for your model:

Would a blown thermal fuse result in one element not working, but the other one still functional? Or is there one thermal fuse for each element?

You can also check the voltage going to the bake element at the control board. It's common to have one of the relays on the board go bad. Unfortunatly if thats the case, you'll need to replace the control board.

    Rick,
You've been doing this for many years and have extensive experience. What am I most likely looking at? Control board issues? Thermal fuse issues? Or what? So far I've lost one element at a time. If it's most likely a control board problem, I'll just bite the bullet and get the new part. I can return it if I need to (my parts store is cool that way).

    What say you?

Thanks for all your help so far,

    Eric

Without checking any voltages, I would say it's a relay board issue. It looks like there are two relay boards for your unit, one for each oven. I would buy the board for the oven used the most. If it worked and the oven operates correctly, I would take the broil relay off of the board you just replaced and replace the bake relay on the other board with it. If it works, you'll save around $150 but it requires a little bit of skill in the soldering department. Here are both relay boards:

I think I'll just replace both of them while I have the thing torn apart. And thanks again for providing wonderful free advice.

    Take care,
    Eric

Decided to replace only the upper control board. Which one is for the upper oven?
