Default Tappan Range Oven Problem

I am working on a Tappan Model TGF363AUA oven.
The oven comes on and pre-heats OK but when you open the oven door, the control panel loses all power. When you shut the door, the panel comes back on with the 12:00 blinking which indicates it lost all power.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

#13 is the metal rod and #12 is the oven light switch in this parts diagram:
http://www3.sears.com/imaging/ImageP...&titleID=00003
Something may be shorting in the back where that light switch is, because when you open and close the oven door that rod moves back and forth to activate the light switch. Just pull the range out from the wall and open the back access panel and check that light switch or other wires for a short.

I've been looking at a wiring diagram for that model but what I need is a schematic and I don't have one. It sounds like maybe the door switch might have something to do with the open circuit. Did this just show up and start all of a sudden? Is the 3 prong plug using a 2 prong addapter? If so is it pluged in the wall correctly? On the bottom of the control board is a row of wires. Make sure none are loose. In the mean time I'll keep looking for a schematic. Wish I was more help.

Default Range Fix

The fix on this one was actually very easy. The symptoms didn't make sense as it would have taken a short on the door switch to kill the power to the control panel which should have tripped a breaker or gotten something hot. When I pulled out the range, I could hear a clicking sound in the panel and when I shook the power cord, it would do the same thing. After further checking, the outlet serving the range (about 20 years old) was bad.
Replaced the outlet and problem fixed.

Thanks for all the help though and this proves that we should look for the obvious first.......

Bob
