Default Frigidaire Model #GLEF378ASE Electric Oven temp problems

I have a Frigidaire model #GLEF378ASE Electric and the oven temp never get's over 340 degrees. I have replace the thermostat twice and recalibrated it both times. It seems to work for a little while then goes back to not getting hot again. When set at 480 degrees when it is cold, it will get up to about 340. If I shut it down and then restart it again (while oven is still warm) I can max out the digital display (525) and it will only goup to 300. I have good voltage and everything else I can look at seems ok.

PS This has been going on since it was new in 2002 and frigidaire does not seem to give a hoot...plenty of emails and phone calls and never get a reply.

Any help would be greeatly appreciated.

Hi sockeyehigh,

How long ago did you to replace the electronic control and how long after you replaced the EOC did you have to recalibrate it? What are you using to check the temprature?

Default 6 months

I replaced the thermostat about 6 months ago and recalibrated it. Recalibrated it again about 3 days before I Posted the first message. I set it to the max (35 degrees ahead) and it did nothing. I am assuming that when you say EOC that you are refering to the thermostat and not the electronic control board I have read about in other posts....I have only replaced the sending unit located in the oven itself....nothing else. I wanted to make sure that I am not "parts replacing" to eventually find the problem as that normaly get's expensive. I was in hope that someone may have another idea to test or that it's either one part or another (i.e. either the sending unit or control board).

I tested voltage with a Fuke 73 to the oven (220v).

Keep the info coming Rick!! any tests you can give me to perform would be greatly appreciated. No matter how simple or complex, I have the technology!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (hell of allot cheaper than a new oven anyway)

Thanks

I should correct my vocabulary...I replaced the sending unit for temperature, not the thermostat...I do apologize, it wasn't until I sent the first reply that I realized that I had goofed on the verbage. SO in other words the temp sensor has been replaced twice, not the control unit (I feel like moron right now, I knew what I was trying to say, but my frustration got the best of my words!!

Sorry about that. Maybe this may make the solution more clear for you guys now!!

Hi sockeyehigh,

No problem, I can understand your frustration. Check the sensor with your fluke. It should read about 1.101k at room temprature. If it checks out ok, then the problem is in the EOC (Electronic Oven Control board). I've played around with those boards with very limited success. You can work the cover off of the bake relay and clean the points. You can look on the relay cover for the voltage, then check the transformer. If the voltage is too low, try touching the solder connections with a small tip soldering iron. Like I said, very limited success. Good luck.
