Default Jammed garbage disposer - advice needed

I have In Sink Erator 444. I used an allen wrench which after a very strong turn, freed the wheel. But it does not spin 'freely' as troubleshooting guides suggest. I still have to apply decent amount of force to turn it. Does this suggest a larger problem? Should I buy a new one? I am renting out the home and don't want to do a quick fix that will then be an inevitable problem for the renter.

thanks,

brian

Hi Brian,

Yes, it sounds like your motor bearing went bad, its better to invest a new disposer, they start at about $67 at Sears:

I had the same problem. Ended up getting a new disposal.
