Default Removing upper rack - GE dishwasher

We have a furnace with aluminum filters which we regularly cleaned in our old dishwasher each year, by simply lifting out the upper rack and inserting the filters for washing. We replaced that dishwasher with a GE GSD5620 a short while back. It appears that the upper rack of this model is not designed to lift out. Is there a safe way to temporarily remove it? I can see that the rollers might be removed by unscrewing the center screws... but I don't know if there are nuts/washers on the outside of the enclosure which might fall off. Any help or advice appreciated.

Here's a diagram of the upper rack parts:

#650 is the track that the upper rack rolls on, #652 is the end cap that should just snap-off from the track on each side, then that upper rack should just pull out.

Default Removing upper rack - GE diswasher

    Hi Jake,

Thanks for the response. The end caps that you refer to are similar to those on my old dishwasher. Unfortunately, the GSD5620 has a different type of assembly. The rack stops are inset from the end of the rail. The rail has been molded around the stops. The stops have upper, lower and side tabs that fit through slots on the rail. I could force the rail open to remove the stops I suppose, but don't know what kind of damage might ensue. I can take a pic and post it online if you think that might give you an opportunity for a different approach. thanks again.

Default Removing upper rack - GE Dishwasher

    Hi Jake,

Thanks... retiring this thread as I managed a workaround yesterday... muscled the filters into the upper rack one at a time... just barely cleared, but worked fine... thanks again.
