Cool Hotpoint/GE recall parts

Hello, all. I have a Hotpoint (model HDA3400F00WW) that was part of the recent GE safety recall for liquid rinse-aid degrading wire insulation.

When the repairman came and made the service call, he replaced wiring and pulled out the door insulation. But, he didn't use the new kick panel that was mailed to me with the rest of the parts. Everyone else I know who had this work done had no "leftover" parts.

My question is: Should I install the new panel? It is made of thicker metal than the original, has less insulation and lacks the air vent slits on the original. (FYI: my mailed invoice lists it as "WH PANEL ELC-MECH BA 165D8960G011, Item ID = WD49X10007X)

Any words of wisdom are appreciated!

Yes, you can install it if it came with the kit.
