Default GE Washer won't spin - model WDSR2080D5WW

Machine won't operate in spin mode. Machine will filll with water, agitate, drain water but will not operate/engage spin cycle - can hear what sounds like water pump operating during entire spin cycle..?? Belt is in excellent condition. This is a relatively new machine - less than 2 years old - Any thoughts?

also, after going through the "no spin" spin cycle, the machine does not turn off - it moves into the next wash cycle - in this next cycle it does not fill with water again - it goes directly into agitate cycle.

Sounds like multiple problems, the 2nd problem you mentioned in your 2nd post sounds like your water level pressure switch is bad, but that shouldn't have an effect on the spin cycle.

I haven't run into this before on my service calls.

You may have to have GE come out if no one here has seen this before.

I'm sure you're right about the water level pressure switch. When I fiddle with that switch I can get the washer to begin its first (fill) cycle. The timer is also questionable as the machine begins another cycle after the last "non-spin" spin cycle. Thank you for your feedback. Looks like a service call can't be avoided.

Actually, I think I do remember having one do this before, and I believe on these GE models the spin cycle goes through the water level switch, so if your water level switch is sticking, then it won't spin, thinking its still full of water.

Here's the water level pressure switch for your model:
Manufacturer part#WH12X10065 is RepairClinic item#2205

Default problem $olved

Thanks for your reply and sorry I'm late in getting back to updating my original post. Well the problem turned out to be pretty simple. The water level is gauged by a "tube" that fills along with the water level - (next to the drum & running up to the switch mentioned earlier). Too much detergent in the wash led to build up in the tube. I watched a GE service tech analyze the problem and then ask for a coat hanger. He disconnected the tube & worked the "gunk" out - problem solved. He also handed me a bill for $130 for his 10 minutes of work which was ridiculous but that's what you get for calling GE and not a local service technician. At least I'll know how to fix if the problem reoccurs. Although using the proper type and amount of detergent should elimate future problems.

Glad its working good again. Thanks for the update.

Actually its better that you had a GE tech. out that see's these everyday and knows what to do, rather than a local tech. thats never run into this before and is clueless and still charges you for something he did that didn't work.
