Default New Motor and still wont spin or agitate? Help please!

I have a GE washer model WLE6500B1WW

The machine goes through the complete cycle fills, drains, etc. but has no spin or agitate. Motor is not spinning or making any sound. I purchased a new replacement motor kit WH49X10035
and installed it. Still the same problem? The lid switch is magnetic type that does start and stop the cycle when opened and closed??? Help please.
Thank you,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Do you have a volt meter to check voltage at your motor?

I looked for the wiring diagram, but I'm not able to find it online.

Hopefully Rick or GE Jim can help us out here.

Default Lid Switch

I know what wires those are but how do I bypass without shorting something?
Thanks,
Jeff

Well, try this, test for voltage across the swtich when it's supposed to be closed. If you get voltage, it's open. Or, you could pull the plug from the wall [IOW_ disconnect power], remove the wires from the switch, close the switch and test with the ohms scale on your multimeter. If you don't get any continuity with the swich closed, it's bad. Does the switch have 2 wires on one side and one wire on the other side? I found a wiring diagram for new style GE top loaders at applianceaid. The lid switch is on the neutral side and in series with the drive motor but does not affect the pump motor. So, it has to be closed for agitate and spin.

Default Switch

The lid switch is the magnetic type. It is a sealed unit with two wires coming out and running back to the electronic plug on the control board. When I shut the lid or use a separate magnet the machine works but nothing takes place with the motor? Can the switch still be bad if the machine goes on and off when the lid is opened and closed?
Thanks,
Jeff

Default ???

Does the machine have to be hooked up and go through all the cycles (With water in the machine) for the motor to engage? I tested the switch w/ the meter and it reads when door is closed and no reading when door is open.

Any new thoughts? Seems like I am not getting any power to the motor.

Well I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that setup. I was thinking you had a machine without electronics. There is a link at applianceaid that discusses a circuit board problem that can cause the machine to go dead. Check and see if it applies to your machine.
