Question GE Dual Inlet Valve flooding

I have an OLDER GE Refrigerator (S/S w/Ice-Water in door). I changed out my Inlet Valve (WR57X88), but when I turn on the water, it floods my freezer and the water in the door is constantly flowing BEFORE I plug the refrigerator back into the electrical outlet. The only WAY to stop the flow of water was to turn off the water supply VERY QUICKLY. Any ideas on what I may have done wrong? I am on a VERY fixed income and am having to replair/replace all parts or whatever I do as cheaply as possible. ANY help (as quickly as possible please) would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Sounds like you received a defective new water inlet valve, I would take it back and get another one, Thats the only thing that stops the water flow to the dispenser and ice maker.

Default Inlet Valve

Thanks Jake, that is what I figured the problem was, but, I like to check and double-check. Know what I mean? Anyway, am going to have this valve replaced. Thanks for the verification.
