Default Oven won't light.

I went to use my oven, and it doesn't light. I took the cover off over the oven burner and tried again. Nothing happens. The broiler & stove top burners all work. I'm guessing that the oven ignitor is no good. According to the manual that came with the oven, "Gas will not flow unless the glow bar is hot."

GE XL44
Model #:JGBP31WEC3WW

Any insight, help, or other info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

The way I test the oven igniter is to use a volt meter and test for 120 volts at the oven igniter when the oven is on, if I get 120 volts then you know for sure its a bad oven igniter.

If you don't have a volt meter, you can get a cheap one at Radio Shack.

Here's the cheapest price I found for the oven igniter for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: WB2X9154

Is that the kind of ignitor that goes click click click click or is it a different type?

If you need an inexpensive voltmeter, I have gotten them for as cheap as $2.99 at Harbor Freight on sale. They also have handy infrared temperature indicators for $9.99 sometimes, in case it is some kind of hot element ignitor maybe that would show if it is actually getting hot.

Hi Bill,

I just got back from a day out with the family.

Glad you got it figured out.
