Question Side by side Model# HSS25GFPHWW

Hi,

One day, my water dispensor stopped working. The next day, my whole refrigerator stopped working, except for the light inside. So by troubleshooting I found that I should disconnect the power, then clean the condenser coils, and reconnect the power, and it was working fine again. Then a couple days later, when the condenser wanted to come on again, it started clicking noise alot from the sealed Motherboard area. The sealed system is still under warranty. I believe the motherboard to be at fault, what do you think?

Now, when I unplug it and plug it back in the clicking noise continues. Could it be just a fan motor or do think it be the MB?

Yes, its likely your motherboard.

You may be entitled to a free one from GE, Read post#8 in this thread:
GE won't dispense ice(Motherboard Topic too)

Here is a new one for your model, in case you need to order it:
Manufacturer part#WR55X10552 is RepairClinic item#1194711

Hi,

Thanks for the info. After reading post #8 from your linked thread, I called GE Consumer relations, who told me my particular model and serial # would not be covered by the recall, and that part wouldn't be covered by my 5 year sealed system warranty, so then I would be responsible for the part and labor plus service call fee and tax. Their regular price for the main board part#WR55X10552 is $131.25 but it is on promotional pricing until the end of September '08 for $59.60 plus tax and handling for out the door price of $76.27. A local parts store has it in stock for $101.40 so I may go that route so I don't have to wait for shipping. Meanwhile, when it starts clicking again, I turn freezer control off for 2-3 hours, and then back on, and the fridge works again for about 12 hours before it breaks down again.
I've kinda had to do this for a couple days because of the long holiday weekend.

Once, again, I appreciate the info, and did you say the new part should come with instructions?

Smile I'm so glad I found applianceblog.com

Yes, that did it. No more buying dry ice to keep the Igloo cold. The fridge is working fine again thanks to the information I found here, and a little bit of work on my part. Thank you, Jake, and Google. The next time I have a problem with an appliance I'll be checking applianceblog.com.
