Default GE GLD4260L00SS Dead

Model Number: GLD4260L00SS
Brand: GE
Age: 1 -5 years

First the lights Normal Wash & Heated Dry lights were on and when the door closed the dishwasher would not start. I killed the breaker and it remained off all day. Tonight when I got home reset the breaker and the dishwasher made one beep. The two lights mentioned above were lit and the dishwasher would not start when pressing the start/reset button. Few minutes later all the lights went out and still no response from none of the buttons. You can hear them click when pressing on them; however, the dishwasher is dead. Again! About 2 years ago had a new control board installed during warranty. I am sure now the warranty has expired. Is it best to buy a new machine or replace the controls if that is what fails it? Is there a reset function that can be used? The dishwasher is a 2006? GLD42680L00SS Serial VH787810B. Thanks

Hi,

Please double check your model# again, the closest I get to that model# is GLD4260L00SS

So was it doing this same problem 2 years ago?

Default Gld4260l00ss

That is correct...it was a typo the corrrect model # is GLD4260L00SS
The last time the dishwasher just kept beeping all day , now it is just dead until you reset the power in which the two lights come on when power is retored but the buttons do not start the machine. After a few minutes those lights turn off and still no response from the touch pad buttons. Thanks for checking and correcting my model number.

Default Plunger Switch Cover

After removing the screws from the door assembly I noticed the plunger switch cover was not attached very well. I removed the cover and the plunger was not making contact with the switches. I then reset the breaker, the dishwashered beeped, I hit the start button and the dishwasher started.

I used black electrical tape to hold the cover interlock on top of the plunger switches. However, since I opened the door during the start of the program now the dishwasher two lights are flashing (normal & heated dry) and will not restart. I killed the breaker again and now waiting 30 minutes before resetting and starting over.

PN# 1003 The last technician broke the snap connects that hold the cover in place. He used some type of white caulk sealant to hold the cover in place.

After 30 minutes I reset the breaker and to find that the dishwasher starting beeping every few minutes or so...I removed the front door assembly once again only to find my black electrical tape did not hold and that the plunger was upside down. The plunger has a slot and once I turned it around the dishwasher started again. I reassembled everything and waited for the dishwasher to stop whatever it was doing and hit the start button. The dishwasher is currently running its cycles. I do believe something needs to be done with my plunger switch cover to hold it in place.

You can order a new cover, but it would cost more to ship it than the part itself:
Manufacturer's Number: WD12X10272

Or go to your local appliance parts store and see if they stock it.
