Sounds like discoloration due to too much Iron in your water.

Order some of this and it should solve that:
Removes built-up soap scum and discoloration due to iron and other water impurities. Also works great in washing machines, porcelain sinks and porcelain tubs.
Glisten Dishwasher Cleaner and Deodorizer

Hi Jake,

I don't think it is impurities in the water for a number of reasons :
we use Finish Quantum Tablets which contain ingredients to combat water impurities, salt & such.....
The residue looks like melted sugar glistening inthe crockery, also contains individual particles of brown items, possibly food burnt onto crockery.
This is a completely new & sudden behavioural change, coming directly after the machine stopped taking water for a week or so, i think the two events must be connected.
Girlfriend thinks it could be the pump ???

Regards,
Pb

Pb,

Yes, it could be a number of things that caused it, but I'm not sure how easy it is to pinpoint the exact problem, this is extremely rare to happen.

I would just start by ordering the Glisten I linked to above and go from there, its by far the cheapest way, rather than starting to order expensive parts out of the blue.

Possibly other members had this happen to them and they can come here and post the solution.

Jake
