Default GE Nautilus GSD3200J00BB quirky knob

after reading several threads i thought my dishwasher may have issues with it's float or it's fill valve, but it functions properly i just have to keep turning the knob till i get the right sound and it starts filling. it only starts filing a few clicks past short wash.

any advice?

thanks in advance.

Does the timer knob not move on its own when you start it?
