Default GE Washer Over-Fill

Model: WHDRE526E1WW

I have replaced the water pressure switch and hose already.

I have 120v to both sides of the inlet solenoid, depending on whether set on hot or cold. Solenoid shuts off when power is cut.

Machine fills but does not ever switch to next cycle. I can pull the hose from the side of the tub and blow into hose and 'force' it to next cycle but as soon as I release pressure on hose it continues to fill.

I have the washer set on the smallest wash size and have turned the switch to 'reset'. I also read on my wiring diagram that after replacing the switch that the spin cycle has to be run for a full minute before use. I have done both of these steps as well.

Is there a way to clean or service the actual pressure switch on the side of the tub? Mine appears to be discolored (as was the hose). I can't find any information on the actual air pressure switch--is this a small bladder that is compressed or how does it work?

On the wiring diagram there is a self-diagnosis. When I ran this test it said "flood error". I can't find any information on this. Could this be the problem or does this just indicate that I had an overflow?

What is the next thing for me to check?

Thanks for all your help--

No, did you try to blow through it from the other way, into the tub?

If that doesn't work, then I'd say your water level pressure switch is bad. I've replaced a few of these on these GE models with the exact same problem your having.

Here's the water level pressure switch for your model:

Jake--I already did replace the water level switch and hose. Surely I didn't get a faulty one of these on the replacement.

If I blow backwards thru the hose what should happen? Bubbles into the tub? Should there be a lot of resistance?

Should water move up that hose during the fill cycle? This is definitely NOT happening so I suspect that there's a plug in the area on the side of the tub.

thanks--

Jake--

Okay--blew backwards into the tub and felt a slight 'pop' as something became dislodged. I reset the washer and it appears to be working just fine.

Goes to show that sometimes there's a easy/fast/free fix. I made several calls to service techs and several hours of online research before finding this site and nowhere mentioned the possibility of clearing the airway!!

My next question is whether this has a higher liklihood of happening again since there still is discoloration inside the area where the hose attaches. The orifice is very small and I could not get a q-tip into it to clean anything. Should I plan on it plugging in the future? What can be done to get it clean in there--a load with heavy concentration of bleach?

Thanks for your help!

Good job blowing back into the tub to clear it.

It may or may not come back to clog it again, but hot water and bleach would be a good idea.

Just keep your eye on it for the next several days, if it happens again, you have to run a large needle down that spout to see if you can get whatever is clogging it out.

We'll see what happens. I did a few loads today before I put it all back together, then I ran it empty with hot water and bleach to see if it would cleanse.

thanks for all your help
