Ok,I've been on here in the past,Jake has helped me out with laundrycenter problems,I've purchased parts here and always been well satisfied in the past.
Current problem is with a Hotpoint RGB745WEA7WW gas range(converted to propane),bought new in 2002. Above 400 degs temp setting oven heats well enough to cook, but not really well. Below 400 it really has wide temp swings, will drop as low as 125,(as measured with cheapo hang-on temp gauge),set it on 350 and preheat light comes on at 150 etc. Problem started over a year ago and has gotten progressively worse.
Haven't used broiler in a while but that seems OK. Any suggestions?

Thanx

Hi b green, welcome back,

It could be the oven igniter is starting to go bad.

Try leaving the oven door open and start the oven, then look at the bottom for an orange glow, if it does not fire up the gas in 90 seconds but its glowing, its likely your igniter is bad.

Here's the one for your model you can order:
Manufacturer's Number: WB13K21

WB13K21

Good hearing from you again Jake,it's been a while!!
Tried oven on 350 and after 20 seconds could see a glow, but oven didn't seem to light put my hand in,couldnt feel no heat, waited 3 minutes and it stayed the same.Shut oven off and waited a while.
Tried oven on 450 and same thing, glow after 20 seconds, waited 5 minutes and still no apparent flame, shut oven off.
Went back later and tried the broiler, igniter came on fairly quickly and after 30-60 seconds the broiler came on no problem.
Hope this helps with the diagnosis, also do they sell a repair or shop manual for this range? How difficult is it to replace igniter?

Thanx
b green

Yes, it sounds like you have a bad oven igniter.

Its easy to replace, just take the bottom oven panel from inside your oven off, then you remove the flame spreader metal shield, then you will see the oven igniter mounted on your burner tube, just remove the oven igniter off from your burner tube and install the new one.

I can't locate any repair manuals for this model online, sorry.

Ok-thanks Jake. One more thing, the parts link said might need to cut connector off and hook up with porcelain wire nuts. Are these usually included with the part or will I need to order them seperately. Soon as I find that out I'll order it.

Thanx

Yes, you have to order the porcelain wire nuts separately.

Or you can order this substitute oven igniter that come with the wire nuts:
Here it is:
Manufacturer's Number: WB2X9998

WB2X9998

Well satisfied with the parts service, igniter arrived two days after I ordered it even though I chose regular shipping. The connector fit well, didn't have to cut it off and wire nuts were included anyway.
Part was pretty easy to replace.Oven seems to be working fine now,can even hear the burner cycling on & off, which I guess is normal because don't remember hearing that before.
Thanks once again for your help Jake, oven is working good so far.
