Question [FIXED] GSL25JFPEBS will not dispense ice, water works, ice maker works.

Hi everyone!

My GE model#(GSL25JFPEBS) will make ice fine, but will not dispense ice. The water will dispense through the front as well, but when pressing crushed or ICE, neither will dispense.

The motor does not turn, and the solenoid does not raise(near motor) for the trap door in the tray to open. The trap door does open in the front door itself.

When I test voltage on the board, I get 120 to the water, 39.6 to crushed, and 39.6 to the auger. Is this correct? shouldn't they all be at 120 while the switch is off?

Once you try to dispense each(water, crushed, ice), they all will drop to 0. Could a relay hold down voltage? After reading a lot of these issues, I am assuming the relays(ZETTLER AZ9431-1AH-12DE) on the mother board are bad, but the difference of voltage is confusing me.

If it is just the relays I can unsolder them and replace, or is it the mother board?

Its likely the motherboard thats causing this issue, we've had alot of members with this same issue and the motherboard is the problem.

You should be getting 120 volts to crushed and to the auger.

Your motherboard#801 here:

is in the back of your refrig. Take off that metal cover#843

Unplug your refrigerator first!

Here's the one for your model you can order:
Manufacturer part number WR55X10656 is RepairClinic item number 1266104

Thanks Jake.

The relays are fairly cheap, and I can do the (de)/soldering fairly quickly.

I was wondering if anyone has successfully changed out the relays, or is it the transformer that is causing the issue?

I really don't know, as techs we don't really have the time to change separate parts on the motherboards.

Hopefully another member can answer this question for you thats changed separate parts on the motherboards and been successful.

Well, I called GE and they said my unit was not on the list for "recall/extended replacement", but they would happily sell me a board for $202 shipped. I declined, knowing that I could get one from repairclinic for $136 shipped to my door in 3-4 days.

I decided to call CS at GE again, got another rep, and he said the same, but he could sell me one at wholesale($96 + tax) $115 shipped. I said OK on that one.

I am still trying to get a price and availability on the relays. Once I find someone that has them in stock, I am going to replace the 2(auger/crusher) and try it out. I'll have a new board, so if I screw up, we'll call it a learning experience.

Thanks for the help! Once the board arrives, I'll post back whether it is fixed or not.

Great Forum! Very much worth the small amount!

Ok, sounds good.

The only thing about ordering it from GE directly is if it doesn't fix the problem, you out $96, where as if you ordered it from the link I posted above from RepairClinic, you would get a full refund when you shipped it back.

Not saying that the new motherboard won't fix it, but just advising you on the awesome return policy that RepairClinic offers.

Ack! I hope that is not the case. The rep did say when I was given a case# and an order# that I would be able to return it if it did not repair the issue.

I knew I should have just ordered it from repairclinic! Now I have to wait, and just hope that fixes it, so I do not get burned a second time from GE.

Ok, then if GE said that, then you should be fine.

Default not Fixed.

Ok, got the board in and replaced it in 5 minutes. It was not the board.

The trap door in the door opens when the dispenser switch is toggled, but not the one on the tray and the motor does not turn.

Where do I go from here?

stupid ? - did you check all wiring connections. sounds like short, maybe- what's the voltage now to auger assy? (don't do ge) what about the actuator switch at door itself, that's activated when cup's pressed in? full voltage? continuity?
