Default [FIXED] GE Arctica water dispenser won't stop

I have a GE Arctica, Model# PSI23SGMB, that we've had for 7+ yrs. We've been dealing with the usual water line freezing and veggie drawer freezing for years. We've dealt with no using the water feature just fine. The other day, it started leaking water out the discharge chute at a force less than when it operated normally, but enough to fill a glass in 30 seconds or so.

I figured that there was a chance that something in the water dispenser was being blocked open by some ice in the line. We cleaned out the fridge, unplugged it and let it sit overnight to thaw everything. Upon turning the water supply back on, water kept running right out the discharge.

I really don't want to sink a bunch of cash into a fridge that's been less that stellar over the years. My question is this - is there any way to cap the water line and completely bypass the in door water dispenser? The water line to the ice maker has operated fine since new.

Thanks in advance,
Edwin

Possibly yes, you could probably cap it off with a screw on plastic cap if your water inlet valve has the old screw on type instead of the new valve that has the push-in type.

You can go to your local hardware store to see if you can get it, it should be either 5/16 or 1/4. You can pull your refrigerator out from the wall and see.

Its #800 here:

Here is the water valve for your model:

I'm not really sure on that push-in type water valve connection edwin. Wish I had the answer other than ordering a new water valve.

Thanks Jake. If I buy the new water valve, do you imagine that would stop the continuous water flow from the door? Or do you think there's a chance the issue is something computer related?

Once again, can't thank you enough for the help!

The new water valve would definitely stop the water flow to the door, guaranteed or your money back.
