Default [FIXED] GE side by side - blinking HRS/clicking noise

Hi,

Model # PSS26SGRC
Serial # VG422948

Over 4 years old.

When I open the refrigerator, I hear a clicking noise and see blinking HRS in the display panel(no temperature display). It started happening since this morning. When it is closed, water green light is flashing and I hear a howling sound. Water/Ice dispenser is not working. But it is cold inside and have to confirm if it is holding the temperature.

I see different threads of mother board issue. Is it the same one? I called GE but they have no clue about blinking HRS and asked me to schedule a technician.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

It sounds like the motherboard is bad.

Here's the one for your model you can order:
Manufacturer part number WR55X10656 is RepairClinic item number 1266104
WR55X10656

If you purchase parts from our links here and you install them and it doesn't fix the problem, you have a 30 day full refund when you return them.

You would need to pull your refrigerator out from the wall, its #801 here, just take the cover#803 off and you will see it(Unplug your refrigerator first):

Thanks Jake for your quick response.

Looks like it is holding the temperature inside. So does motherboard(being bad) impact ice/water dispensing system? or would it eventually break everything? I'm just wondering how much time I have to try out this new motherboard?

Also how hard is it to change the motherboard? I'm very comfortable in building computers. Would I be able to do it?

Yes, it controls the ice/water dispenser as well.

You have a 30 day FULL refund on the motherboard if you order it from the link I posted above if it doesn't fix it.

Its very easy to change the motherboard, all quick connects.

Thanks Jake. Is it ok to leave the refrigerator on until I replace the motherboard? Or would it cause more damage?

I see GE had a recall on these motherboards. Would you know if this one(given the model/serial #) is part of the recall?

Thanks.

Thanks Jake. Finally it stopped working yesterday but could not wait to get it shipped from repair clinic which you suggested(or check with GE if it was covered under recall). So got it from the local store and the new control board fixed it.

I did try with old one to see if I could disconnect and put it back again before buying the new one. A couple of wires were pretty tightly hooked up to the board and they were really hard to pull out.

But otherwise it is back functional now. Thanks for your help Jake.
